Ishqq is an intimate AI companion product. We collect and process personal data only to operate the service. This page explains what we collect, why, and your rights.
1. What we collect
- Google account.Your email address, first and last name, and profile photo. We use Google's "Sign in with Google" to log you in. Your email is your identity on Ishqq. For Gmail addresses, we normalise dots and plus-aliases to a canonical form (e.g. john.doe+tag@gmail.com and johndoe@gmail.com resolve to the same identity) so that one person cannot create multiple accounts from the same Gmail inbox.
- Age confirmation. A single checkbox confirming you are 18 or older. Required by Indian law for adult content.
- Profile details. Birthday, gender, an optional bio, and an optional phone number. Phone is only used for payments (Cashfree requires a verified mobile number for UPI AutoPay) and is not used to log you in.
- Conversations.Messages you send to your AI companion and the AI's responses, so the AI can remember context.
- Character preferences. The archetype you choose, the name you give her, language register, and other customisations.
- Billing data (paid users). Your subscription tier, status, billing period, payment-mandate reference from Cashfree, and webhook event history. We store a one-way hash of your payment instrument (e.g. UPI ID or card fingerprint as provided by Cashfree) to detect duplicate trial abuse. We never see or store your raw card or bank details; those live with Cashfree.
- Device info. Basic information from your browser (user-agent, timezone) and push-notification tokens if you allow them. For trial subscriptions we also store a one-way hash of browser and device signals to detect and prevent trial abuse; this hash cannot identify you outside Ishqq.
2. How we use it
- To run conversations between you and your AI companion.
- To remember preferences and past context, so she feels continuous.
- To manage your subscription and process recurring charges via Cashfree.
- To send you push notifications you have opted into.
- To prevent abuse, fraud, and underage use.
- Safety and crisis detection. Every message is scanned for signals of distress or self-harm. When a signal is detected, Indian mental health helplines (Tele-MANAS 14416 and KIRAN 1800-599-0019) are shared in the conversation. Turns where a crisis signal is detected are logged and may be reviewed by a small number of authorised team members solely for safety and product-improvement purposes.
- To comply with Indian law and respond to lawful requests.
3. Profile photos
When you sign in with Google, we fetch your Google profile photo once and store it on our servers as a data file inside your user record, so we never have to hotlink Google's image servers. If you upload a custom photo from the profile page, we store that on our servers instead. Either way, your photo lives only in your account record and is removed when you delete your account.
4. Who can read your conversations
Your conversations are processed by AI models from Google (Gemini) to generate replies. They are stored in our database to give the AI memory.
No Ishqq employee reads your conversations as a matter of routine. Conversations may be accessed by a small number of authorised team members only if: (a) you report a problem and ask us to; (b) our system flags the turn for safety review (crisis detection); (c) we detect signs of abuse or illegal content; or (d) we are compelled by a lawful order from Indian authorities.
5. Sharing & third parties
We share data only with the service providers that make Ishqq run:
- Google."Sign in with Google" for authentication, and Gemini API for AI replies.
- Cashfree Payments. Handles paid subscriptions, UPI AutoPay mandates, and recurring charges. They process your payment details directly; we only receive a mandate reference and event webhooks.
- OneSignal. Push notifications, if you opt in.
- Hosting providers. Vercel (frontend) and Railway (backend + database) to run the website and servers.
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers.
6. Data retention
We keep your account, conversations, and subscription state as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, we delete your conversations and personal data within 30 days, except where we must keep some records to comply with law (such as transaction and tax records for completed payments, which we retain for as long as Indian tax and accounting rules require).
7. Your rights
You can, at any time:
- Ask for a copy of your data.
- Ask us to correct anything that is wrong.
- Delete your account and all conversations.
- Cancel your subscription (see the Refund Policy).
- Withdraw consent for push notifications.

8. Children
Ishqq is strictly for adults aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, write to us and we will delete it immediately.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the "last updated" date above and, for significant changes, notify you in the app.
